Project 1:
For summer timeline scheduling only, through the Youth Summer Job Connections Program, you will receive at least 20 hours of paid skills training and/or pre-employment workshops, up to 8 weeks of summer employment, part-time and after-school jobs if they do not conflict with academic studies, tutoring, career guidance, and help returning to school after the program.
To be eligible for these summer job opportunities, you must meet the following requirements: The program is for high school students between the ages of 15 and 18 who are Ontario residents and plan to stay in or return to school, or continue their post-secondary education. The program can also help Aboriginal youth, recent immigrants, youth with disabilities, limited work experience or low education levels.
Project 2:
Through Youth Employment Links, participants will be 60 hours of paid skills training and/or pre-employment workshops , a job for up to 6 months , mentorship, career coaching, and help with the transition from school to work or continued employment after the program ends.
For these year-round opportunities, you must be: Between the ages of 15 and 29 , unemployed, not in full-time school or training, and an Ontario resident. If you are under 18, you must have been on a legal leave of absence. This means you have either graduated or are in a supervised alternative study program approved by your school board.
Canadian Government Federal Student Work Experience Program: Information Guide (Region-Free)
Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible for employment in an approved student employment program:
• Enrolled as a full-time secondary or post-secondary student at an accredited academic institution or;
• A person with a disability who is considered to have full-time status by his or her academic institution or;
• Participation in secondary adult education and retraining programs conducted under the auspices of a recognized academic institution;
→ Education Level: High School, CEGEP, College or University
→ Field of study: 15 fields of study and more than 250 majors
→ Job Location: Across Canada
→ Self-declaration: Member of one or more employment equity groups (Aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, women from minority groups)
→ Field of Interest: Students can select up to 3 job types related to their field of study.
