Youth Volunteers- A Life-Changing Experience

The Peer Project-Youth Assisting Youth

Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) is a non-profit organization that provides youth with opportunities to volunteer in the community. (Offline, schedule adjustable)

Volunteer Requirements:

 Young people aged 16-29 who serve as positive role models to help At-risk and new immigrant children ages 6-15 reach their full potential.

• Be a role model and create fun connections with youth while participating in social and/or academic activities.

• Spend some time with the teen each week for a year, at least 10 hours per month.

• The teens you pair with will have similar hobbies and interests. They will also live near the volunteers. We will provide you with many opportunities for trips and activities to make your time here fun and relaxing.

Mentorship:

The Teens Helping Teens project will Teen mentors aged 16-29 are paired with new and at-risk children aged 6-15 to establish a one-to-one peer mentoring relationship. Volunteers are required to commit to meeting with the mentee on a weekly basis, including an average of 10 hours per month , for at least one year. 2 letters of recommendation are required and a training course will be provided to provide you with all the information you need.

Tutoring:

Volunteers will Zoom One-to-one virtual tutoring or small group tutoring for students aged 6-15. Volunteers are aged 16-30 . Minimum 1 hour per week for one term . You will focus on subjects such as Reading, Maths, Science, English, French and History.

Geographical location:

The areas where the teenagers are located are as follows: Greater Toronto Area, Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough and Downtown Toronto.
