【Yinshi Volunteers】TED Talks is recruiting volunteer translators
TED Translators is a global community of volunteers who caption TED Talks and help spread their inspiring ideas across languages and borders.
Translation statistics show that TED Translators has the ability to translate in 115 languages, with 50,940 translators providing translation services, and has completed a total of 238,660 different types of translation tasks. This large team of translators covers a wide range of language and cultural backgrounds, ensuring high-quality translation services.
TED translators and transcribers help spread ideas to a global audience. The subtitle platform used is called CaptionHub.
Subtitles must go through the following steps before they are published:
1. Transcription
TED provides original transcripts for all TED and TED-Ed content. For TEDx Talks, volunteers can use automatically generated transcripts as a basis or create their own transcripts from scratch.
2. Translation
Use the dynamic subtitle editor to translate subtitles from the original language to the target language. Please note that the TEDx recording must be reviewed and published before any translations can be created.
3. Review
Before being published, captions are reviewed by experienced volunteers and posted directly to the TED.com video player and YouTube for the world to see.
What you will get:
TED values the contributions of volunteers. Volunteers who have published subtitles will receive the following benefits:
1. Your profile will appear in our translation catalog
2. You will have a special TED profile page listing your published works
3. When TED Talk subtitles are activated, your name will appear in the TED video player
Require:
1. Volunteer translators should be fluent in both the source and target languages.
2. Volunteer transcriptionists should be proficient in the language being transcribed.
3. Volunteer translators and transcribers should understand how subtitling works.
