From an international student to an IELTS teacher, he is the person you should know the most on the way to slaughter ducks!

从留学生到雅思老师,他是你在屠鸭路上最应该认识的人!

Q1: Hello Mr. Yan~ Thank you for accepting our interview. Can you introduce yourself first?

Hello, my name is Liang Yan, and my classmates usually call me Yan, or Teacher Huo Huo. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a major in TESOL. I have been working in IELTS and ESL for two years after graduation, and I hold a TESOL certificate.
Q2 : Why do teachers like the IELTS course? Do you have any unique skills?

IELTS is a test that most international students must pass. As an international student myself, I deeply know the mood of my classmates during their preparation for IELTS, and I am familiar with the common weaknesses and doubts that everyone prepares for the test. I would like to wish you all the best of luck through my personal experience and expertise.

Q3 : Many Chinese students are struggling with IELTS. What do teachers think are their common weaknesses? Any suggestions to improve them?

The common weakness is that many candidates are not very familiar with the IELTS test site. Most of the students' cognition of IELTS stays in its structure, question type and so on. If we can calm down and analyze, study this exam, and grasp the examiner's idea of the question, no matter how the question type changes, we will not be afraid.
Q4 : There are many students who actually accumulate a lot of words or write a lot of questions. However, the result of the test is not satisfactory. Does the teacher know the reason for this and what is the solution?

Many students have tried the real test more than once, but still can't get the desired grades.
It only takes 20 minutes to swipe an article to read. We have to sort out all the wrong questions that have occurred, and carefully analyze why the error occurred, find the root cause of the error, and solve the problem at the root, so as to ensure that the next time we encounter a similar problem, we can do it right.
If we finish a set of questions, and we have finished correcting the answers, we put the questions aside and do not think deeply, then we only learn this set of questions, and we do not pass this set of questions and master a set of methods.

Q5 : Many IELTS centers are closed due to the epidemic. What should you do during this period?

During the epidemic, some students will be very confused and do not know how to prepare for the exam. It is suggested here that everyone should not relax, or make sure to brush the real questions regularly. Organize your own set of mistakes. While at home, you can watch more videos, movies, articles, etc. in English, which not only maintains the input of English every day, but also adds fun to life.
Q6 : Recently, many students are asking about the difference between the IELTS computer test and the written test. Can the teacher give a little introduction~

The IELTS computer-based test and the written test are computer-based, and the other is the traditional written test. The test format is very different, which means that candidates for the computer-based IELTS test need to be trained for computer-based test.
However, there is no difference between the IELTS computer test and the written test in terms of test content and oral test. In the listening part of the IELTS computer-based test, you do not need to fill in the answer sheet, and you only have 2 minutes to check after the listening. In the layout of the test paper, the questions and articles of the IELTS computer-based test appear on the same page, and there is a highlight function to facilitate candidates to read the questions.
In the writing section, candidates manually input the content throughout the whole process, and are equipped with a copy and paste function, which is convenient for candidates to organize the composition structure and saves the time for corrections in the written test process. Normally, there will be time reminders for the IELTS computer test, and candidates no longer have to worry about time management during the test.

Q7 : Can I cheer up students who are taking IELTS or preparing for IELTS?

Students, many people say that IELTS preparation is not easy, but as long as we take every question seriously and master every necessary knowledge point, conquering IELTS is not as difficult as we imagined.
Years from now, when you are active in your dream college, look back at the self who is preparing for the exam at this moment, and you will appreciate every drop of sweat that you put in today. Every point of persistence will turn into a beam of light that lights up our future.
Q8 : Do you have any other stories to share?

I once taught a child, her foundation was very weak, she was very unconfident at first, and felt that she would fail the test no matter how many times she took the test, but I always encouraged her and told her to believe in herself, if faced with difficulties, If you feel like you can't do it at first, you've already lost.
In the end, the child was admitted to the university of his dream through his own efforts. After passing the IELTS test, her confidence was also greatly enhanced. Therefore, students must not underestimate their potential. You must know that this is just a small hurdle in the road of life. We will work hard to cross it so that we can enjoy a better future.

High school students who study in Canada or go to international schools are generally weak in grammar, and writing and reading are more difficult than listening and speaking.
As a former international student, Mr. Huohuo is well aware of the general weaknesses of international students. For the difficulties faced by many students, Mr. Huohuo has a sharp solution! This is also the reason why it can help more students slaughter ducks!
