Jake's House Legends Mentoring Program
Jake's House is recruiting mentors to support the Legends Mentoring Program with virtual and in-person workshops from October to December . Mentors will participate in various activity workshops (such as cooking, dance, crafts, socializing, boxing, etc.) , assist the program instructors in completing various tasks , and record attendance. At the same time, mentors will also serve as positive role models for participants, establish connections with families and volunteers, and provide support and guidance on programs and services.
Volunteer Job Responsibilities
Project Support/Relationship Building
• Work closely with instructors and program participants to support the Legendary Mentoring Program (LMP) workshops.
• Participate in and facilitate workshops and events on virtual or offline platforms to promote cross-cultural communication .
• Coordinate various interpersonal relationships among project participants.
• Provide support and guidance to families participating in virtual or in-person workshops.
• Develop and implement volunteer and family recognition activities to enhance a sense of belonging and positivity in the community.
• Ensure relevant information is communicated to families and participants before and after the workshop.
• Maintain positive relationships with families and communities affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) .
Administrative Support
• Record workshop attendance.
• Call families who did not attend to remind them to attend the workshop.
• Observe and record project feedback and report to the Project Manager.
Volunteer Time and Location
Location: Toronto, Mississauga, Lucan or online
Industry: Non-profit Organization Time Commitment: At least 1 hour per week for 8-10 weeks
